ASCAP. | | coments | Warner BROS. didn't knew which was going to be the fourth single from the Bedtime Stories album. Some radio stations included Don't Stop in their lists, although people at Warner didn't had any intention to promote it. Finally, they decide Human Nature to be the last single. It wasn't very successful (just reaching #46 in the US charts), but Madonna's final objetive was to give a reply to all the people who critizised her Erotica years.
The song has some whispering lines, and some sung ones, but it's in those whispers in which she gives the real message she wants to give, along with a great music. Due to the explicit content of the song, some radio stations banned the song, and a clean version had to be edited and released, with 'It's Human Nature', instead of 'I'm Not Your Bitch, don't hang your shit on me'.
The remixes, made by Danny Tenaglia & Howie T. are really poor. But the best thing this song has is its video, a video which using very few resources, is one of the best videos in Madonna's videography. | | videoclip | 
| If there's something great about Human Nature, that's its video. Madonna trusted again director Jean-Baptiste Mondino, who had previously directed Open Your Heart and Justify My Love, and would later direct Love Don't Live Here Anymore and Don't Tell Me. It was filmed in Los Angeles.
With just a white background, some black rope, a chair and with five dancers, this is one of the favourite videos of Madonna's fans all over the world. And it's in this video where Madonna dances one of her best choreographies (the rope dance is unbeatable).
There is an important cameo on this video, the small chiguagua dog of Madonna, called Chiquita. And another appearance is Luca Tomassini, one of the dancers from The Girlie Show, the one who appeared in the Bedtime Story performance at The Brits. He was said to have something more than a proffesional relation with Madonna.
At the end of the video, she repeats the message of the song, if anyone doubts it: she has absolutely no regrets. |

| | the reply | |  We all know the reaction of the critics and the media to the Sex-Erotica era in the early 90's. Someone can cross the line to the religious and sexual themes, but some said Madonna had gone too far: Justify My Love (explicit video banned by MTV), In Bed With Madonna (her human side), the Erotica album (her most misunderstood album), the Sex book (great photo collection reaching almost the porn grade), the film The Body Of Evidence (another crash as an actress) and the Blond Ambition Tour & The Girlie Show (where she simulates masturbation, sexual ecstasy and an orgy).
In reply to of the critics she had for so many years about the same subject (some are still today), Madonna wrote Human Nature. Have you read carefully the lyrics? Madonna talks (sings) about freedom of speech, about the fact that everything could have been different if she was a man, about hypocresy,… And the most important thin of all, which Madonna repeats at the end of the video: she has absolutely no regrets about anything she did. She's Madonna.
