Another
Suitcase In Another Hall was the third single from the film Evita,
altough it wasn't released in the US. This single had almost
no importance at all, in fact, it just got a good position in the
UK charts. The decision of releasing Another Suitcase In
Another Hall as the 3rd single was a mistake. It would have been
better to release Buenos Aires, but it was finally just promotional
released, along with the remixes there were made.
In the film, the song means the following: Eva has just arrived
in Buenos Aires with the tango singer Magaldi. But she
discovers that Magaldi is married and has some children, and
he leaves her alone on the street. Her only way out is living as a
prostitute, a dancer,
She even attends some castings, but without
success. But a potographer will help her reach the fame, trhough is
own bedroom first.
Later in the film, the roles are reversed, and when Eva is
Peron's lover, she will 'unemploy' his former lover, and the
same song will be heard in other lips. Precisely, the one who sings
this time is no other than Andrea Corr, leader voice from the
group The Corrs. This is the real intention of this song in
the original musical, to be sung by the former lover of Peron,
but it was changed in order to give Madonna more songs to sing. |

Limited
edition Cd maxi-single, with 3 postcards (the cover is also
another postcard). Two versions were released. The first one
had one cd, with Another Suitcase In Another Hall, You Must
Love, Hello And Goodbye and Waltz For Eva And Che. The second
one had two cd's, one with Another Suitcase In Another Hall,
Don't Cry For Me Argentina, You Must Love Me and Hello And Goodbye;
and another with Another Suitcase In Another Hall, You Must
Love Me, Hello And Goodbye and Waltz For Eva And Che. It is
a little bit stupid to repeat almost the same songs in both
cd's, but we already know some decisions people at Warner usual
make. |

| Another
Suitcase In Another Hall |
[Eva:]
I don't expect my love affairs to last for long
Never fool myself that my dreams will come true
Being used to trouble I anticipate it
But all the same I hate it, wouldn't you?
[Eva:]
So what happens now?
[Che:] Another suitcase in another hall
[Eva:] So what happens now?
[Che:] Take your picture off another wall
[Eva:] Where am I going to?
[Che:] You'll get by, you always have before
[Eva:] Where am I going to?
Time
and time again I've said that I don't care
That I'm immune to gloom, that I'm hard through and through
But every time it matters all my words desert me
So anyone can hurt me, and they do
[Eva:]
So what happens now?
[Che:] Another suitcase in another hall
[Eva:] So what happens now?
|
[Che:]
Take your picture off another wall
[Eva:] Where am I going to?
[Che:] You'll get by, you always have before
[Eva:] Where am I going to?
Call
in three months time and I'll be fine, I know
Well maybe not that fine, but I'll survive anyhow
I won't recall the names and places of each sad occasion
But that's no consolation here and now.
[Eva:]
So what happens now?
[Starlets:] Another suitcase in another hall
[Eva:] So what happens now?
[Starlets:] Take your picture off another wall
[Eva:] Where am I going to?
[Starlets:] You'll get by, you always have before
[Eva:] Where am I going to?
Don't ask anymore...
