 The ninth and last track from the Like A Virgin album is Stay, another song composed by the team Madonna - Bray, which is just another song, and doesn't bring anything new to this production. Stay is stuck in the middle of dance, funky, or maybe just pop. The lyrics of the song (the love thing again) and the Nile Rodgers production make it a song more or less forgettable. But, against all critics, Madonna decided Stay to be the B-side of the Like A Virgin single release.Stay has its own history, and the origins of this song began in 1981. By that year, Madonna and Stephen Bray were composing some songs and recording them in demos, and some of those songs were Stay and Don't You Know. Although they have the same title, the 1981 version of Stay is quite different from the final 1984 album version we all know. In fact, the final Stay is a mixture bettween those two compositions: The chorus is taken from the song Stay, and the rest of the lyrics are from the song Don't You Know. Both songs were included in the PreMadonna album that Bray released in 1997. | ||||
