Paradise is a Madonna colaboration with Mirwais (Mirwais Ahmadzaï, who was going to be the main producer of the Music album), in his first solo album. A few months later, Paradise was number 9 track in the new Madonna album, with a little longer version. Everybody was wondering about the sound of the new Madonna colaborator, someone who was a completely stranger. Madonna surprised us again, because Paradise was completely diferent from Ray of Light. She keeps on using electonic sound, but taking them to the limits (sometimes too much, some will say). This song is about dealing with fame (again): sometimes she's at the top.....sometimes she's really low. Fame is Paradise for many people, but not for Madonna. She sings in french a few lines, which was a Mirwais' idea, as he translated part of the lyrics Madonna wrote. This is not the first time Madonna sings in french (remember the first lines of Love Song, with Prince). | | videoclip |

| It was filmed during the rehearsals of the Drowned World Tour 2001, in May 2001, in the Culver City Studios, and directed by Dago González. It has only be seen in this tour, used as an interlude between the Punk and the Geisha sections. Some other scenes recorded were used for the Mer Girl performance of the same show. This video was never commercially released, and probably won't never be. The best chance to do it was including it as a special feature in the Drowned World Tour DVD, because is in that DVD where we can see full screen images of the video. Madonna is a modern Geisha again (remember Nothing Really Matters?). Maybe another try to get the Hatsumono character in the forthcoming film Memories from a Geisha, adaptation of the same title book. The video has plenty of Madonna's shoots, and some typical Japanese fights. At the end, she walks into the light... This is one of the most beautiful, sweet, and simple of all the Madonna videos. It's a shame we can't enjoy it 100%. | | | lyric | | Paradise (Not For Me) | I can't remember When I was young I can't explain If it was wrong My life goes on But not the same Into your eyes My face remains I've been so high I've been so down Up to the skies Down to the ground I was so blind I could not see Your paradise Is not for me Autour de moi Je ne vois pas Qui sont des anges Surement pas moi Encore une fois Je suis cassée Encore une fois Je n'y crois pas
I've been so high | I've been so down Up to the skies Down to the ground There is a light above my head Into your eyes My face remains I've been so high I've been so down Up to the skies Down to the ground I can't remember When I was young Into your eyes My face remains Into your eyes My face remains I've been so high I've been so down Up to the skies Down to the ground I've been so high I've been so down Up to the skies Down to the ground | | | | collector items | | | Production is Mirwais' album, and has a slightly shorter edit than the Music version.
