Madonna dedicates a song to her daughter Lourdes in her "Ray Of Light" album. She has said in many interviews that her daughter was the main inspiration while composing and producing the sons of this album. Reading the lyrics of the song, anyone would expect a slow and sweet lullabye, but Madonna sings a happy song, full of efects and electronic sounds.
Thios is one of the few songs in which William Orbit doesn’t participate: “I didn’t have anything to do with this song, I just watched. When I listened to it, I really liked it and I said it was ok for the project”. Rick Nowels is the new producer Madonna chose for her "Ray Of Light" album, and he also produced "The Power Of Goodbye" and "To have And Not To Hold". He produced the demos "Like A Flower", "Gone Gone Gone" and "Revenge", songs which weren’t included in the final tracklisting of the album. There is also another version of "Little Star", a demo version, slower and without any of the electronic efects of the final production.
"Little Star" wasn’t released as a single, although it was released as a promo single in 1998 Christmas in Europe, as it was a sweet song perfect for that time of the year; so they could also sell more copies of the album. It was also the B-side of the European single release of "The Power Of Goodbye". The acoustic version played live in "The Oprah Winfrey Show" was intended to be the B-side of "Nothing Really Matters", but the final decision was "To Have And Not To Hold".

lourdes maria ciccone leon

Lourdes María Ciccone Leon was born at 4:01 AM, October 14th 1996 in Los Angeles, in the eigth floor of the "Good Samaritan" hospital. It was a healthy baby girl. Her name, Lourdes, comes from the marian sanctuary located in France, to which Madonna’s mother was very devoted. The name Maria is the name of Carlos Leon’s mother. But Madonna just calls her “Lola”.
Her father is Carlos Leos, a cuban who lives in the States. Madonna met him when she was jogging in New York’s Central Park. He soon became her personal trainer, and she got pregnant in the filming of Evita, in the early 1996. Many rumours came along, some of them said that Madonna has hired Carlos as a father (or a sperm donnor) and gave him a great ammount of money). The relationship didn’t last long, and they didn’t even spoke about marriage. Madonna made Carlos sign a document giving her the custody of the child. Both Lourdes and Rocco, seem quite happy children, and go with her parents everywere they need to go due to their works. Lourdes appeared first on a stage as one of the maids in Madonna’s "MTV Video Music Awards 2003" performance of "Hollywood"; with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera.

Madonna performed this song live on May 29th 1998 in "The Oprah Winfrey Show". It was a beautiful acoustic version. She also performed an amazing "Ray Of Light".
