One of the most pop songs of her first album, far away from the club-disco sound of the other material Is one of the songs from the album Madonna that was played faster to make her sound more girlish, and getting a mid-tempo rythm. It can also be found on her first greatest hits album, "The Immaculate Collection". | | videoclip | | | It's the first Madonna video directed by Mary Lambert (others are "Like A Virgin", "Material Girl", "La Isla Bonita" & "Like A Prayer"). It was filmed in L.A. and Madonna is a girl who wants to be a model who breaks up with her boyfriend to go with a photographer that could make her famous. After painting a graffiti in the photographer's car, he gets angry with Madonna, so she comes back with her boyfriend.
The video uses colour scenes in the boyfriend relation, and black and white segments in the photo sesions.
A curiosity of this video is that we can see a magazine cover with a Madonna picture, of an imaginary magazine called "Gloss". At that moment no one could ever imagined that Madonna would be one of the artists who appears in most covers around the world.
The song in the video is the "Edit Version".

Without any doubt, this is part of the fanatic impresions that Madonna's fans usually have. | | cover |  This is the cover of the Cd single reedited in 1995, which is the one we can easily find in the records shops. It a coloured photo, with maps of London and New York in the background. | | in the chart | | "Borderline" will be known as the first Madonna top 10. In september 1983 it reached number 10 in the american charts. In the mid '84 was released wolrdwide. In Japan and Canada reached number 26 and 22, but in U.K. just got a poor 56. Two years later, in 1986, the "Like A Virgin" album pushed the "Borderline" single to number 2. The single has sold more then 1.350.000 copies worldwide. | | en directo | | It's one of her first songs, so it's hard to say how many times was performed live. It was on her first tour, "The Virgin Tour", covering 27 american cities. But it's one of the 3 songs that are not included in the official VHS of the show.
